Custom steel wire
From wire rod to the exact diameter: our wire-drawing and ribbing lines supply custom steel wire for mesh, stirrups and cut bar.
What wire drawing determines
Wire drawing brings wire rod down to a smaller, consistent diameter by pulling the wire through a series of dies. The precision of that process determines how uniform the cross-section stays over the full length, and thus how predictable the end product behaves.
At Metalfac this happens on our own lines, so diameter and surface quality are monitored during production rather than only checked afterwards.
Ribbing for bond
After drawing, the wire is ribbed where needed: a profile is applied that improves bond with the concrete. The rib pattern is checked during production, so every coil shows the same bonding behaviour.
Not every application requires a rib profile; smooth wire remains relevant for certain mesh and tying applications. Indicate in your request which profile your application requires.
Diameters matched to the application
The required diameter follows from the application: finer wire for lighter mesh and tying work, thicker ribbed wire for stirrups and load-bearing reinforcement. We match production to the diameter you specify.
For projects with a non-standard diameter, we check whether it's feasible on our existing lines and within what timeframe.
From wire to finished product
Custom steel wire forms the basis for our reinforcing mesh and for part of the cutting work processed through the automated cutting machine. Anyone needing only wire — for their own processing, for example — can also take it loose, in coils.
That way the same production line can serve both end customers and processing companies, always with the same control over diameter and rib pattern.
Request for steel wire
Indicate the required diameter, whether you need ribbed or smooth wire, and the desired quantity in coils or tonnage. Based on that we confirm feasibility and lead time.
For ongoing off-take of the same diameter, a fixed agreement can be made, similar to our other product lines.

Frequently asked questions
- Can I take only wire, without further processing?
- Yes, wire in coils is available loose for anyone processing it further themselves.
- What is the difference between ribbed and smooth wire?
- Ribbed wire has a profile for better bond in concrete; smooth wire is used where that isn't required.
- Can you draw non-standard diameters?
- We check per request whether a specific diameter is feasible on our existing lines.
- Do you also supply processing companies?
- Yes, steel wire is supplied to both end customers and companies that process it further themselves.
