Foundation reinforcement

Foundations carry heavier loads and are no longer accessible for correction once poured. That makes correct diameter, cover and placement of the reinforcement less forgiving than for above-ground elements.

For foundation slabs and beams, a design office often combines mesh for the surface distribution with loose bars for stirrups, edges and reinforcement at critical spots.

For foundation slabs we supply mesh according to the specified spacing, supplemented with cut-to-size bars for edge zones and cross-sections where the plan requires a higher reinforcement ratio.

For foundation beams and footings, loose bars and stirrups are delivered at the requested length, so tying can start on site without any sawing.

For shallow strip or slab foundations the focus is on mesh and cut bar for the slab itself. For foundations with piles or pits, separate cages or stirrup connections are often added, which are measured separately.

In both cases the number of cutting sizes is usually limited to a few types, which keeps production on our cutting machine efficient.

Foundation works often proceed in phases: first the slab, then columns or walls that connect to the foundation reinforcement. Delivery can follow the same phasing, so not all material is stored on site at once.

For projects with multiple structural parts, we work out a delivery schedule together that matches the contractor's planning.

A request for foundation reinforcement ideally includes the reinforcement plan, or at least the diameters, mesh spacing and cutting sizes per structural part. If a detail is missing, we ask for it before preparing a quote.
