Reinforcing steel export to Latin America
Latin America is one of Metalfac's longest-standing export markets. Delivery happens FOB or C&F via the Belgian seaports, in cooperation with fixed logistics partners.
One of our oldest export markets
Expansion into Latin America has long been part of Metalfac's growth from local supplier to export company. That experience translates into familiarity with the common requirements for shipping and documentation to this region.
For importers working with us for the first time, that means a point of contact who already knows the common bottlenecks in shipping to Latin American ports from earlier shipments.
Long sea voyages and packing
The sea voyage to Latin America is generally longer than to European destinations. Bundling and protection of the cargo are matched accordingly, so material arrives in the same condition as it left.
For longer voyages, extra attention is also given to marking, so bundles remain easy to identify on arrival, even after multiple transhipments.
FOB and C&F for Latin American ports
We deliver both FOB and C&F to ports in Latin America. Under C&F, the ocean freight to the destination port falls under our responsibility; under FOB, the buyer arranges that leg through their own forwarder.
For both modalities, the shipping date is matched to the available sailing schedules to the requested destination.
Documentation and customs clearance
Some Latin American countries have specific requirements for import documents, such as additional certificates or specific wording on the commercial invoice. These requirements are discussed at the request stage and factored into shipment preparation.
Incomplete or incorrect documentation is a common cause of delay at customs clearance in this region, which is why we carefully align these documents in advance.
A request for this region
For a quote we need diameters, grades, tonnage, the desired Incoterm and the destination port. Also indicate whether any specific document requirements are known from previous import experience.
Based on that we prepare a price with an indicative shipping date, matched to available sailing schedules.
